Winter Happenings 2025 & 2026

It’s my first winter in Cleveland, and it’s been a cold ride! I’ve learned a lot, what I need, the do’s and don’ts, and that it’s really not been that bad.

As the snow has started to melt, I realized yesterday that we’ve had snow on the ground since Thanksgiving. I never thought something as simple as seeing the grass and sidewalk again would make me happy.

Thankfully, Roscoe and Bonnie really enjoy the snow, especially Bonnie! She would stay outside all day if we let her. Roscoe only really didn’t like it when it was 4 degrees and felt like -12, he stopped walking and tried to get back inside pronto!

We had a quiet Thanksgiving and ordered Chinese food for Christmas (Will’s favorite). Admittedly, though, I had a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year (2025). We got a Charlie Brown tree from Whole Foods (while it was snowing) and drove around to look at Christmas lights; the neighborhoods here really get into it.

On New Year’s Eve, we had heavy snowfall, and started the year in a winter wonderland. Baking has brought me a lot of joy lately, and I’ve been working on perfecting different cookie recipes.

I’ve been filling my days with good books, cuddles with the dogs, and exploring the area with Will—well, as much as we can when it’s been as cold as it has! We’ve become regulars at The Cleveland Museum of Art and have seen some incredible art and exhibits.

As much as I’ve enjoyed the cold weather and the beautiful snow, I am ready for spring! I can’t wait to see the world come to life again. Warmer weather also means more outdoor exploration, which I’m very much looking forward to!

Now that I’ve caught up on life a little bit, I plan to post regularly. I have a backlog of ideas and things I want to share.

Hugs,

Alyssa
